Dr. Waivers, a native of Kearny, New Jersey, was a 1974 graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, where he received a degree in engineering. In 1980, he graduated with a medical degree from New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ. He moved to Greenville in 1987, where he practiced at East Carolina University School of Medicine until 1990 when he formed his own private practice, Greenville Internal Medicine, where he practiced until 2008. He most recently practiced at the ECU Student Health Center.
He was very active in Community Theater in Farmville and Greenville. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. His most cherished activity was spending time with his children and watching them play sports.

He is survived by his: sons, Christopher Waivers, Michael Waivers and Patrick Waivers; and a daughter, Katie Waivers, all of Greenville.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

There are roles for four men aged 17 to 50 and three women aged 17 to 50. Ages listed below are the approximate ages for the characters:

Mervin Oglethorpe – The Young & Enthusiastic Pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, late 20s
The Sanders Family – A family of traveling gospel singers in their 1st night back on the Gospel Circuit in 5 years:
Burl Sanders – Father, late 40s
Vera Sanders – Mother, mid 40s
Stanley Sanders – Uncle – late 40s
June Sanders – Sister, 23
Denise & Dennis Sanders – twins, 17

All characters sing except for June. We would like to cast actors who play an instrument, but this is not a requirement. Musicians are also encouraged to audition. Actors will be asked to read from the script and to sing a cappella or accompanying themselves. Musicians will be asked to play a song. Instruments needed are traditional acoustic instruments such as guitar, banjo, fiddle, upright bass, mandolin, auto harp, and piano.

Auditions will take place at the Paramount Theater annex, 3723 N. Main St., Farmville, NC 27828. Auditions will be from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Monday and Tuesday, March 12th and 13th.

Production dates are May 3-6, 2012.

Audience members are the congregation for the evening’s service of beloved songs such as “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away,” as well as lesser known numbers, including “Christian Cowboy” and “I’ll Never Diet (I’ll Just Change My Address).”
