Pitt Community College Symphony Orchestra to Perform Family-friendly Concert in Farmville, NC
The Farmville Community Arts Council is hosting The  PCC Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 7:30pm, at
Farmville Central High School Auditorium, 3308 E Wilson St, Farmville, NC 27828  
(This is a change of venue from the old Elks Lodge)
With over 45 musicians from the community and PCC, this is a free concert for the entire family.  (Donations will be accepted at the door).
There will be a Halloween Costume Contest for children 12 and under.  The winner will direct the PCC Symphony Orchestra.
Music includes:
“Selections from West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein; “Night on Bald Mountain” by Moussorgsky; “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 1” by Bizet; “Soundtrack Highlights” by John Williams and more. R. Michael Stephenson is the Conductor.

Tarboro Water colorist, H. Marie Easley, Will be the Artist of the Month in Farmville
Ms. Easley creates portraits and creates water color landscapes, focusing on the beauty of eastern North Carolina and Bald Head Island.  The Farmville Community Arts Council is hosting an Opening Reception for Ms. Easley on Thursday, October 18, 2018, 5:30-7pm, at the DeVisconti Fine Art and Event Center, 3732-A West Wilson Street, Farmville, NC 27828.  This event is free and open to the public

Artists of the Month: Rebecca Thomas and Michael Horne

April’s Artist of the Month reception is a celebration of TWO artists!

Both have been practicing their art throughout their lives. FCAC is delighted that Rebecca Thomas and Michael Horne will be sharing the Gallery at the Paramount Theatre throughout the month of April.

Rebecca B. Thomas is a pen & ink specialist. She is known primarily for her renderings of homes, businesses, and historic sites. She is also an accomplished portrait artist

Michael Horne Jr. is also a pen and ink specialist. One of his pieces of art was auctioned with great success at a pre-inauguration party in 2008 for President-elect Obama.

Please join us for this free event as we celebrate the art of Rebecca and Michael.

April is National Poetry Month!

Farmville is celebrating National Poetry Month!  Join the FCAC and the Farmville Public Library throughout the month for fun and informative opportunities to embrace your poetic side!

April 3, Tuesday, 6:30pm—Farmville Mayor proclaims that Farmville will participate in the month-long celebration of poetry; Town Hall

April 15, Sunday, 2pm-4pm—Take a Poetry WalkAbout with Sheila Turnage and Lori Drake—rain or shine; wear comfortable shoes; family-friendly. You will come away with a poem or two of your own.  Farmville Public Library

April 16, Monday, 6:30pm—An Evening of Poetry: Featuring Poets Malaika King Albrecht (Pamlico Poet Laureate) and Gabrielle Brant Freeman (professor at ECU). Farmville Public Library

April 17, Tuesday, 5pm-7:30pm—Farmville’s Agri-Cultural Market will include a PoeTree planting and the reading of Joyce Kilmer’s famous poem, “Trees”.  DeVisconti Gardens (behind the GlasStation on Wilson Street)

April 26, Thursday, All Day—it’s POEM IN YOUR POCKET DAY!  Carry a poem in your pocket and share it with others. FCAC and the FPL will be sharing poems at the Farmville Dogwood Festival on Main Street and at School-A-Palooza.
